This week was all about content consumption. I finished the Hubspot content marketing course while taking stacks of notes on what I learned. I also consumed a plethora of blog posts related to content marketing.

A look into my Evernote project folder

As I’ve gone through the course I’ve learned the power of creating a content plan for one’s business and the power of repurposing content. From what I’ve learned I’ve decided to write a plethora of blog posts relating to what I’ve learned and then to repurpose them into an ebook and possibly into other types of information content as well like an infographic.

The biggest challenge I faced is realizing that I’m completing work and growing my depth of knowledge even though I don’t have all that much to show for my work at the moment.

Because of the 30-day writing challenge, I realized how much I enjoy creating content no matter what medium I’m doing it through and that’s what inspired me to learn more about content marketing.

Some of the aspects of content marketing that I delved into this week include:

  • Creating a content creation framework
  • The Power of Storytelling to build trust and empathy within a customer
  • How to plan a long-term content strategy
  • How to work with influencers in a field to build an audience
  • The best way to generate content ideas
  • Creating quality blog content that people love
  • How to write an engaging title for one’s content
  • The value of repurposing content
  • How to repurpose content
  • What a pillar page and topic cluster are and how to create them
  • How to ‘write epic shit’
  • A surefire guest blogging strategy to build SEO and become a thought-leader in one’s industry
  • How to effectively promote one’s content organically and through paid mediums like Facebook ads
  • And how to measure and analyze one’s content marketing efforts to prove ROI
  • And much more

This has inspired me to start a content plan for my own website and to implement as much as I can with a content marketing ebook and to market my content marketing efforts organically and through Facebook ads.

As I went through this module I learned more than I ever thought was possible in this specific aspect of marketing and I know that I also still have much to learn.
